Anybody who has cleaned a handgun the traditional way knows the drill: sectioned rod, patches, a brush, and a lot of back-and-forth passes. The Bore-Nado Handgun Cleaning Rope skips most of that. It's a pull-through rope built to brush and swab your barrel in a single stroke, so you can knock out fouling at the range without spreading your whole kit across the bench.
The way it works is simple. A weighted brass bore guide sits on the small end and drops right through the bore, so you don't have to fight to feed the rope through. Once it's routed, you add your favorite solvent and pull from breech to muzzle. As the rope travels down the barrel, the vortex bristle section uses copper brushes to lift carbon and fouling, and the built-in braided swab follows behind to sweep everything out. One pass does a lot, and you just repeat as needed until the bore comes up clean.
Most bore snakes are just a weighted cord with an embedded brush. This one packs the brush and the swab into one continuous rope, so brushing and wiping happen in the same motion. It's sized for 9mm, .357, and .380 caliber handguns, which covers a huge chunk of the everyday carry and range revolver crowd. The gray and red coloring makes it easy to spot in a cluttered bag too.
This isn't meant to replace a full detail strip and deep clean, and it doesn't pretend to. Think of it as your quick-cleanup tool: perfect for a fast pass after a range session or a mid-day wipe-through before you keep shooting. At roughly 8.5 inches packaged and next to no weight, it tucks into a range bag or pistol case and stays out of the way until you need it. Pair it with your regular solvent and it slots neatly into whatever cleaning routine you already run.
It's built for 9mm, .357, and .380 caliber handgun barrels, so it covers a wide range of common carry pistols and revolvers. That includes .38 Special, which shares the same bore diameter as .357. If you shoot more than one of these, a single rope handles all of them.
Drop the weighted brass guide on the small end through the bore from the breech, then add a little of your favorite solvent to the rope. Pull it through from breech to muzzle in one steady stroke, letting the copper bristles brush and the braided swab wipe as it goes. Repeat the pass as many times as needed until the bore comes out clean.
Not quite. It's designed as a quick, single-stroke cleanup tool that's great for the range or a fast wipe-through between sessions. For a deep clean you'll still want your full solvent, patches, and detailed routine, but the Bore-Nado slots right into that lineup for the everyday stuff.
Yes, it's a reusable tool. Rinse it out and let it dry after use so old fouling and solvent don't build up in the fabric and bristles. Store it in your range bag or case and it'll be ready for the next trip.
