The M9 has been around long enough to prove itself in just about every condition imaginable, and the M9A4 G is what happens when Beretta gives that platform every modern upgrade it deserves. This is a full-size, hammer-fired DA/SA 9mm built on an aluminum Vertec-style frame, finished in Flat Dark Earth Cerakote from front to back. The G designation means decocker-only, so there is no manual safety lever to sweep off under stress. Drop the hammer safely, holster it, and the long double-action first pull is your safety.
The slide is milled for micro red dots (mounting plates sold separately), and the dovetailed tritium night sights give you a solid backup that glows when the lights go out. The 5.1 inch barrel comes threaded 1/2×28, so adding a suppressor or compensator is as easy as spinning off the thread protector. Beretta also fitted the enhanced Xtreme Trigger System with a shorter reset than the older 92 series triggers, and the difference shows up fast when you are running quick follow-up shots. A beveled magazine well speeds up reloads, and the 3-slot Picatinny rail up front handles lights and lasers without any adapters.
The Vertec frame uses a straight backstrap with thin, aggressively textured grip panels, which brings the trigger closer to your hand than the old humpbacked 92 frame. Folks with smaller hands who struggled with the classic M9 grip tend to get along with this one much better, and a wraparound backstrap is included if you want more to hold onto. Even with the slimmer grip, you still get 18 rounds of 9mm per magazine, and Beretta ships three of them in the box.
Whether you are setting it up as a duty gun, a nightstand pistol with a light and red dot, or a suppressor host for range days, the M9A4 G covers all of it without compromise. The open-slide design that made the 92 series famous for reliability is still here, just refined. This is the M9 the way it always should have been.
The slide uses Beretta's RDO cut and works with popular micro red dot footprints through Beretta's mounting plate system. Optics like the Trijicon RMR, Holosun 507C, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and Burris FastFire family can all be mounted with the correct plate. Keep in mind the mounting plates are sold separately, so grab the one that matches your optic.
The 5.1 inch barrel is threaded 1/2×28, which is the standard pitch for most 9mm suppressors and muzzle devices. A thread protector comes installed, so the muzzle stays clean until you are ready to add a can or comp.
The G designates a decocker-only configuration. Instead of the traditional safety/decocker lever on older 92 and M9 pistols, the lever on this model only drops the hammer safely and then springs back up. There is no manual safety to disengage, which a lot of people prefer for duty and defensive use.
