The M9A4 Overlanding series is Beretta's newest take on one of the most battle-tested handgun platforms ever made, and the Clay version might be the sharpest looking one in the lineup. Introduced in 2026, the Overlanding series takes the full-featured M9A4 and wraps it in a purpose-driven package aimed at collectors, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who wants a full-size 9mm that can go anywhere and do anything.
Under that Clay Cerakote finish is the M9A4 platform most fans of the 92 series already know and trust. The aluminum alloy Vertec frame keeps weight reasonable at 33.4 oz unloaded, while the steel slide brings the rigidity you want in a full-size pistol. The DA/SA action runs a Type G decocker-only configuration, meaning there is no manual safety lever to fumble with. You decock, you carry, and the first pull in double-action gets you there safely. Follow-up shots run in single-action, and the short-reset trigger bar makes those fast. The ambidextrous controls work equally well for right- and left-handed shooters.
Everything modern that you would want on a duty or defensive pistol comes standard. The slide is optic-ready with integral cuts that accept a variety of mounting plates, so you can run whatever red dot you prefer. The 5.1-inch barrel is threaded at 1/2×28 from the factory, suppressor-ready out of the box. Tritium night sights front and rear keep your irons useful in low light, and the 3-slot Picatinny rail up front takes a light or laser without any modification. The beveled magwell and oversized magazine release make reloads faster and less fumble-prone under any conditions.

This model runs a Type G decocker-only configuration, which means there is no traditional manual safety lever. The plates are sold separately, and the slide ships with a blanking cover installed to protect the cut until you are ready to mount an optic.
The 5.1-inch barrel is threaded at 1/2×28 TPI, which is the standard pitch for 9mm suppressors and muzzle devices in the US market. It is fully suppressor-ready from the factory with no additional modifications needed. Just make sure any muzzle device you add is within the thread depth to avoid contact with the slide.
Clay Cerakote is a muted, earthy tan color that fits the outdoor and overlanding theme well without being loud or flashy. Cerakote as a coating is known for strong corrosion and abrasion resistance, making it a practical choice for a pistol that might see field conditions or humid environments. It is applied to both the frame and slide on this model for a cohesive, uniform look.
Beretta packages this pistol with two 15-round magazines, a wraparound grip panel, and what they call the Overlanding kit, which includes a Streamlight MicroStream flashlight, a compass, and a 10mm socket.
