The 29-inch fluted barrel wears a 1:12 twist and a cylindrical three-port muzzle brake, and it feeds from a 10-round magazine with one included. The action is Barrett's recoil-operated semi-auto system, the same short-recoil design that made the original famous, and between that action, the brake, and the rifle's 32.72 pounds of heft, felt recoil comes back as a firm push rather than anything punishing. The steel receiver is finished in manganese phosphate, so it shrugs off weather and hard handling the way a working rifle should.
