There's a lot of commemorative stuff out there that's all looks and no substance. The Auto-Ordnance Tanker 1911 isn't that. This is a fully functional, all-steel GI-spec pistol chambered in .45 ACP, finished in Army OD Green Cerakote and purpose-built to honor the American tank crews who fought in WWII. The Sherman Tank's iconic white star is engraved on both the slide and frame, and the checkered wood grips carry the U.S. logo. Every detail here is intentional. Auto-Ordnance also notes that since each Tanker is hand-finished, no two are exactly alike, and color can vary slightly piece to piece.
Under the finish, this is a serious pistol. The slide, sear, and disconnector are machined from solid carbon steel bar stock and heat treated for long-term durability. The barrel is stainless steel, the frame is carbon steel with a beavertail grip safety, and the controls are pure GI pattern: thumb safety, grip safety, arched mainspring housing, and a standard trigger. The sights are low-profile GI-style, with a fixed blade up front and a rear sight that's drift-adjustable for windage. It won't win any target-shooting competitions, but it's plenty accurate for range use and gives you that authentic, no-frills 1911 feel that a lot of people genuinely prefer.

Yes. The checkered wood grips are solid and functional, not decorative-only. The U.S. logo is integrated directly into the grip panel rather than added as a separate medallion. Yes. The Tanker 1911 is a full Government-size 1911A1 at 8.6" overall, so it fits the same holsters and accepts the same .45 ACP single-stack 1911 magazines as any standard Government-size 1911. The one included magazine is a seven-rounder, but any quality single-stack .45 ACP 1911 mag will work.
