Description

Plenty of AR makers slap "ambidextrous" on a spec sheet because they added a safety lever. American Defense Mfg went further with the UIC MOD2, machining a billet aluminum upper and lower receiver set with a patented control layout that puts a bolt catch and release lever on the right side and a magazine release on the left, on top of the Talon ambi safety. Lefties get a rifle that finally works with them instead of against them, and right-handed users pick up faster reloads without shifting their firing grip. The Raptor ambidextrous charging handle keeps the theme going up top.

The Barrel Behind the UIC MOD2

The heart of this rifle is a 13.9 inch Criterion barrel in 4150 CMV with a nitride finish, hand-lapped and chambered in .223 Wylde with a 1:8 twist so it shoots both .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO with match-grade consistency. ADM's CORE contour was designed to improve balance and heat dissipation over traditional profiles, and it shows in how lively this gun feels on the move. The Surefire Warcomp is pinned and welded to bring the whole package to a 16 inch overall length, which means you get the handling of a shorty in a standard rifle configuration, and you're already set up for a Surefire SOCOM series suppressor down the road.

UIC MOD2 Furniture and Trigger

ADM didn't cheap out where your hands land. You get a Geissele G2S two-stage trigger, Magpul MOE grip, Magpul MOE SL stock, and a free-float M-LOK handguard with plenty of real estate for lights and lasers. The whole rifle weighs right around six pounds unloaded, which is impressively light for a billet gun with this parts list.

Why This ADM Carbine Earns Its Keep

Owners consistently report thousands of rounds through these rifles without a hiccup, running everything from match loads to bargain bulk ammo. Between the fit and finish, the upgraded internals, and controls that work from either shoulder, the UIC MOD2 is the rare factory AR that's genuinely done the day it arrives. It ships with one 30-round magazine and is made in the USA.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the American Defense UIC MOD2 shoot both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO?

Yes. The .223 Wylde chamber is a hybrid design that safely handles both .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO pressures while delivering better accuracy than a standard 5.56 chamber. Paired with the 1:8 twist Criterion barrel, it stabilizes a wide range of bullet weights, roughly 55 to 77 grain, so you can run cheap plinking ammo and match loads through the same gun.

What makes the UIC MOD2 controls truly ambidextrous?

ADM's patented billet receiver design adds a bolt catch and release lever on the right side and a magazine release on the left, in addition to the Talon ambidextrous safety selector. That means both left and right-handed users can lock the bolt, drop mags, and work the safety without repositioning their firing hand. The Raptor ambidextrous charging handle completes the setup.

Why is the barrel 13.9 inches instead of 14.5 or 16?

The 13.9 inch Criterion barrel gets a Surefire Warcomp permanently pinned and welded to reach a 16 inch overall length, so it's configured as a standard rifle while handling like a much shorter gun. The 13.9 inch models also use ADM's CORE barrel contour, which improves balance, heat dissipation, and harmonics. It's a popular setup for anyone who wants compact handling without a shorter-barreled build.

Is the UIC MOD2 ready for a suppressor?

The pinned Surefire Warcomp doubles as a mount for Surefire SOCOM series suppressors, so if you run one of those cans you can attach it directly with no gunsmithing. The Warcomp also does a nice job taming flash and muzzle movement when shooting unsuppressed. ADM offers other muzzle device options on different SKUs, but this model ships with the Warcomp.
