The Alpha Foxtrot AF1911 Romulus in the 3.5" MOS Comp configuration is what you get when someone takes the classic 1911 layout seriously and then refuses to leave anything on the table. It is a hammer-fired, single-action, double-stack 9mm built on a CNC-machined SUS416 stainless steel frame and slide, finished in a matte black Diamond-Like Carbon coating. DLC is one of those finishes that actually earns its keep in the real world, handling wear and corrosion far better than traditional bluing or even most Cerakote applications.
The barrel is the real centerpiece here. A 3.5" bull-ramped, compensated, threaded Ultra Match 416R barrel with a 1:10 right-hand twist and six-groove button rifling. The compensator keeps muzzle rise in check, the bull-ramp aids in feeding reliability, and the threaded profile means you can run a suppressor or swap in a different muzzle device whenever you want. Overall length comes in at 6.9", which keeps it surprisingly compact for everything it brings to the table.
The slide is fully optic-ready with a rear MOS adapter cut. An RMSC plate comes pre-installed, and an RMR plate is included in the box, so both Holosun and Trijicon footprints are covered without hunting down extra parts. A Night Fision front sight handles the iron side of things in low light. Controls include an ambidextrous thumb safety and a grip safety, plus an extended slide release and front/rear slide serrations for positive manipulation. The aluminum grip module integrates a flared magwell for faster reloads and a Picatinny accessory rail up front for a light or laser.
The trigger is adjustable and comes set from the factory at roughly 3.5 to 4 lbs, which is a clean, crisp single-action pull that competition and range shooters will appreciate right away. This pistol is 100% made in the USA, and it ships with both a 17-round and a 20-round stainless double-stack magazine so you have options from the first range trip. Whether you are running it on a competition stage, setting it up as a suppressor host, or just building out a serious range gun, the Romulus 3.5" Comp covers a lot of ground in one package.
This version uses a rear MOS adapter cut that is compatible with both RMSC and RMR footprints. An RMSC plate comes pre-installed on the slide, and a Trijicon RMR plate is included in the box. That covers a wide range of popular red dots from Holosun, Trijicon, and others that share those footprints.
The standard RMSC version has a direct-cut slide for RMSc-footprint optics only and will not accept an RMR without modification. The MOS Comp version, like this one, uses an adapter plate system that supports both RMSC and RMR footprints, giving you more flexibility when choosing a red dot. The MOS Comp also includes the pressed compensator on the threaded barrel.
Yes, the barrel is threaded from the factory. The compensator is pressed onto the threaded barrel, and if you want to run a suppressor instead, you would need to remove the compensator to expose the threads. It is a standard threaded profile designed for muzzle device swaps.
This model ships with both a 17-round and a 20-round stainless double-stack magazine. The double-stack grip module is built around a 2011-style magazine footprint, which means it is compatible with a range of commonly available high-capacity 2011 magazines from other manufacturers as well.
The bull-ramped compensated barrel is designed to redirect propellant gases upward at the muzzle, which reduces muzzle flip and helps the front sight come back on target faster between shots. Combined with the weight of the all-steel frame and slide, the 3.5" Comp configuration is notably flat-shooting for a compact 9mm platform.
The Romulus ships with an adjustable, tunable single-action trigger set from the factory at approximately 3.5 to 4 lbs. That is a clean, competition-friendly pull right out of the box, and the adjustability means you can tune it further to your preference without sending the gun to a gunsmith.
