The Dissent MK4 is what happens when CMMG throws out the AR rulebook and keeps only the parts worth keeping. There is no buffer tube on this gun. CMMG's patented Compact Action runs dual guide rods and springs inside the receiver instead, which chops the overall length down to roughly 14.7 inches with a 6.5 inch barrel. That makes this one of the most packable 9mm AR pistols you can buy, and the Tungsten Gray Cerakote over 7075-T6 aluminum receivers gives it a look that stands out from the sea of black rifles.
Plenty of 9mm ARs are straight blowback, which means a heavy bolt and a snappy recoil impulse. The Dissent uses CMMG's Radial Delayed Blowback system with a fixed ejector in the upper, so the bolt carrier is lighter, felt recoil drops noticeably, and the gun stays consistent across everything from soft subsonics to hot supersonic loads. Feeding comes from CMMG's 9 AR Conversion magazines, true double stacks that share the same profile as standard 5.56 mags, so they drop into your existing mag pouches and load easily all the way to 33 rounds.
The forward charging handle sits on the left side and does not reciprocate, so you can run the bolt with your support hand without breaking your grip or your sight picture. The safety is ambidextrous, the trigger is a crisp ZEROED drop-in single stage, and a ZEROED linear comp on the muzzle sends blast forward instead of back at you. A 5.5 inch M-LOK handguard handles lights and accessories, the full-length top rail is ready for whatever optic you prefer, and the Picatinny end plate at the rear accepts a brace or sling mount.
Every Dissent carries CMMG's Lifetime Quality Guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. Between the build quality, the capacity, and how flat this thing shoots for its size, the MK4 earns its spot as a truck gun, range toy, or home defense setup.
No, this one runs CMMG's 9 AR Conversion magazines instead. They are true double stack mags built with the same external profile as a standard 5.56 AR magazine, so they fit your existing AR mag pouches and use the familiar AR magwell and release. They also load smoothly from the first round to the last, which is a real plus at 33 rounds.
No, and that is the whole point of the design. CMMG's Compact Action replaces the buffer tube and spring with dual guide rods inside the receiver, cutting overall length to around 14.7 inches. The rear of the receiver has a 1913 Picatinny end plate instead, which gives you a clean mounting point for a brace or sling attachment.
Softer than most. A lot of 9mm ARs use simple blowback with a heavy bolt, which gives them a clunky, snappy impulse. The Dissent MK4 uses Radial Delayed Blowback with a lighter bolt carrier, so it shoots flatter and cycles reliably with everything from subsonic to supersonic loads. The ZEROED linear comp also pushes muzzle blast forward and away from you.
It ships optic ready with no iron sights installed. The full-length Picatinny top rail gives you plenty of real estate for a red dot, prism optic, or a set of backup irons. Given the compact size and 9mm chambering, a small red dot is the setup most folks land on.
