There are a lot of AK-pattern rifles out there, but few come out of the box built like the Zastava ZPAPM70. This one comes straight from the same Serbian factory that has been turning out M70 rifles for military service around the world for decades, and it shows in the details: a 1.5mm stamped receiver, a bulged forged front trunnion, and a cold hammer forged barrel with chrome lining. Those are the features AK folks look for first, and Zastava includes all three as standard. This particular model, the ZR7762RTF, pairs the classic blood red wood handguard with a steel folding triangle stock, and it is one of the best looking configurations in the whole ZPAP lineup.
The folding stock on this rifle is smarter than most. It folds toward the left side where the optic rail sits, which means the trigger and safety selector stay completely accessible with the stock folded. Zastava also redesigned the locking piece on the folding mechanism, so lockup is solid with none of the wobble you get on cheaper side-folders. The stock even clears most side-mounted optic setups when folded, so you do not have to choose between a compact package and running glass.
Chambered in 7.62×39 with a 16.3 inch barrel and a 1:9.5 twist, it runs the classic slant brake on 14×1 LH threads, so swapping muzzle devices down the road is simple. The bolt carrier is corrosion-resistant hard nickel moly steel, the safety selector has a bolt hold open notch, and the adjustable front and rear iron sights are ready to zero right out of the box. The TangoDown pistol grip includes a watertight storage compartment, a nice modern touch on an otherwise traditional rifle.
It takes standard AK-pattern magazines and drums, ships with one 30-round mag, and weighs in around 7.9 pounds. Whether this is your first AK or the one you have been holding out for, the ZPAPM70 triangle folder is the kind of rifle you buy once and shoot for decades.

In most cases, no. The rifle has the traditional AK left side rail for optic mounts, and the folded stock is designed to clear the majority of side rail mounts. Very large or low-profile mounts may vary, but common AK optic setups work fine alongside the folder.
