YHM machines this piston from heat treated 17-4 PH stainless steel, the same material used for the Sidewinder's adapter, Nielsen sleeve, blast baffle, and rear cap. That grade of stainless shrugs off corrosion and holds up to the heat and carbon abuse that comes with suppressed pistol shooting. It measures 1.950 inches long and weighs a scant 1.5 ounces, so it adds next to nothing to the front of your gun. Like everything else YHM turns out of its Massachusetts shop, it is made in the USA.

The 14.5x1mm left-hand metric thread is most commonly found on HK USP Tactical barrels in .40 S&W, along with some aftermarket threaded barrels that follow the same European pattern. Check the thread spec stamped or listed for your barrel before ordering. If your barrel is 9/16×24, YHM makes the same piston in that pitch instead.
Yes. The Sidewinder is a user-serviceable suppressor, so the booster assembly comes apart without gunsmith help. Remove the rear cap, swap the piston into the Nielsen device, and reassemble. It takes a few minutes once you have done it a time or two.
This piston is made specifically for the Sidewinder's original Nielsen assembly. YHM notes it does not fit the YHM-2055 1.375-24 Nielsen booster, so verify which booster your can uses before you buy. If you are unsure, the part number on your booster housing will tell you what you have.
