The XS Sights R3D 2.0 is the second-generation version of one of the most popular carry sight setups going, and this suppressor-height set is built for Sig owners running an optic or a suppressor. It fits a long list of models including the P320, P365, P226, P229, P225, P228, and the X-Macro and X-Compact. Note that it will not work on the X or XL series where the rear sight is part of the optics plate. The front sight glows green day and night thanks to a Swiss-made tritium vial wrapped in an Ember Glow Dot that soaks up ambient light, while the blacked-out rear keeps your eye locked on that front post where it belongs.
XS reworked the whole set from the original R3D. The rear sight now carries bigger, brighter tritium lamps ringed in a black PVC collar, so you get a defined edge that separates the two rear dots from the front dot for cleaner alignment. The 0.170-inch wide rear notch gives you breathing room around the 0.145-inch front blade, which speeds up how fast you find the front sight in a hurry. The rear face is serrated to cut glare on a sunny range day.
Because this is a suppressor-height set, the taller sights let you see over a mounted red dot or clear the profile of a suppressor. The steel is CNC machined from bar stock in Fort Worth, Texas, and finished to hold up against drops, holster wear, and sweaty daily carry. The ledge on the rear also lets you rack the slide one-handed off a belt or boot if you ever need to.
One of the biggest quality-of-life upgrades here is the redesigned rear dovetail. A lead-in edge and crush zone on the underside cut the required install force by roughly half compared to Gen 1, so a DIY job with a quality sight pusher goes a lot smoother. The rear can be set with a hammer and punch too, though a pusher tool makes the front go easier since it fits tight on purpose.
This set covers a wide range of Sig pistols including the P320, P365, P225, P226, P228, P229, X-Macro, X-Compact, and P365XL. It will not fit the X or XL series where the rear sight is built into or attached to the optics plate. Double check your specific model and slide cut before ordering.
Suppressor height sights are taller than standard, which lets you see the front post over a mounted red dot for a lower-third or absolute co-witness. The extra height also clears the profile of a suppressor so you keep a usable sight picture with a can attached. If you run an optic or a suppressor, this is the height you want.
XS redesigned the rear dovetail with a lead-in edge and crush zone that cuts install force by about half compared to the original R3D, so a DIY setup is realistic. You will still want a quality sight pusher, especially for the front, since it seats tight on purpose. The rear can also be installed with a hammer and brass punch.
The front post uses a brighter tritium vial wrapped in a green photoluminescent Glow Dot that charges off ambient light, so it stands out day and night. The rear runs dimmer tritium lamps in a blacked-out serrated face so it never outshines the front. That contrast keeps your focus on the front sight and the target downrange.
