The WOOX Elegante Hybrid in High Grade Walnut takes the usual wood-and-metal formula and flips it around for the Remington 700 short action. Instead of burying a chassis inside a synthetic shell like most factory hunting stocks, WOOX built this one from the outside in, starting with a single hand-selected block of Claro American walnut and wrapping it around an internal aluminum mini-chassis. It carries and points like a traditional hunting stock but holds your action in place with the kind of repeatable bedding you'd expect from a full aluminum chassis.
Underneath that walnut exterior sits an aerospace-grade aluminum mini-chassis, precision machined in Italy before the stock ever reaches the finishing bench in Hickory, North Carolina. That chassis is what gives the Elegante Hybrid its drop-in fit and keeps the action from shifting under recoil, shot after shot. At roughly 35 ounces it stays light enough to carry all day, and the inletting works with the Remington 700 short action along with common clone actions like Bergara B14, Defiance, and Zermatt.
The Hybrid profile leans into a steeper vertical grip with an integrated thumb rest, a flat-bottom forend that sits solid on a bag or rest, and a negative comb that keeps your eye lined up behind a scope without craning your neck. There's a short M-LOK section at the 6 o'clock position for a bipod or accessory, a ventilated recoil pad to take some sting out of bigger short-action calibers, and an integrated QD cup out back for a sling. Length of pull adjusts with optional spacers if you want to dial in fit for different shooters or heavier layers.
This High Grade Walnut version is cut from wood selected specifically for figure and character, and only a small share of what WOOX works with makes the cut for the Elegante line. Every stock is hand oiled rather than sprayed with a synthetic coating, so the grain stays visible and the wood only gets richer looking with age.
