The 26 inch barrel starts as chromoly steel bar stock, then gets drilled and button rifled with a 1-in-10 twist that stabilizes the heavy bullets .300 Win Mag shines with. The extra barrel length squeezes more velocity out of magnum loads compared to shorter sporter barrels, which matters when you're stretching shots past 300 yards. The muzzle comes threaded at 9/16×24 with a brake already installed, taking real bite out of magnum recoil. Between the brake and the Inflex recoil pad in the stock, this rifle is far more pleasant behind the trigger than most .300s.
Winchester borrowed the M.O.A. Trigger System from the Model 70, and it shows. Zero take-up, zero creep, and a clean break that makes precise shot placement easier from field positions. The two-position thumb safety includes a bolt unlock button so you can cycle the action with the safety engaged, and the receiver comes drilled and tapped so mounting your scope is straightforward. A detachable box magazine holds three rounds, with one more in the chamber for a 3+1 total.
At 7.25 pounds bare, it carries fine for a magnum rifle with a 26 inch tube, and the dark Midnight camo pattern blends into timber and low-light conditions where big game moves. If you run the bolt with your left hand and want magnum performance without a custom shop price tag, this one deserves a hard look.
Yes, this is a dedicated left-hand model, not a right-hand rifle with a flipped safety. The bolt handle and ejection port are set up for left-handed operation, so southpaws can cycle the action naturally without reaching over the receiver. That's a big deal in a market where lefty magnum rifles are hard to come by.
It ships with a muzzle brake installed on the 26 inch barrel, which noticeably tames .300 Win Mag recoil. The muzzle is threaded 9/16×24, so you can remove the brake and attach a suppressor or other muzzle device that matches that thread pattern. Just make sure your device or mount is compatible with 9/16×24 threads, since it is less common than 5/8×24.
No iron sights or rail come installed. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases, so you'll want to pick up XPR-pattern bases or a one-piece rail along with rings for your optic. Given what .300 Win Mag can do at distance, a quality scope is the way to go on this rifle.
For a magnum, it's surprisingly civilized. The factory muzzle brake bleeds off a good chunk of the push, the Inflex recoil pad soaks up more of it at your shoulder, and the 7.25 pound rifle plus scope adds enough weight to settle things down. Most folks find it comfortable enough for a full range session, which is not something you can say about every .300 Win Mag.
