It is a blend of browns and grays with just enough lighter tone to disappear into cattails, cut grain fields, and CRP cover. The 28 inch vent rib barrel is back-bored for better patterns and comes with a hard chrome-plated bore and chamber, which is a genuinely useful touch on a gun that will spend its life around mud, rain, and marsh water. The 3.5 inch chamber digests everything from light 2.75 inch field loads up to full-house goose ammo, and it runs steel, bismuth, tungsten, or lead without complaint. At around 7 pounds this 12 gauge carries easily on long walks to the blind, and the Inflex recoil pad does real work taming heavy magnum loads by directing the comb down and away from your face. Absolutely. The SXP Waterfowl Hunter is built for nontoxic loads and runs steel, bismuth, and tungsten as well as lead. The barrel is back-bored with a hard chrome-plated bore and chamber, and the included Invector-Plus chokes are designed to pattern modern waterfowl ammo well.
It ships with three flush-fit Invector-Plus chokes: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder, plus a wrench. That covers most situations from close decoying birds to longer pass shots, and the Invector-Plus system is widely supported if you want to add aftermarket tubes later.
The Inflex recoil pad is one of the better factory pads out there, and it channels recoil so the comb moves down and away from your cheek instead of into it. Big 3.5 inch magnums will always have some push in a 7 pound pump gun, but the pad and stock design keep it very manageable for a day in the blind.
