The Invector-Plus choke tubes included are rated for steel shot, though you'll want to avoid shooting steel through the Full choke — Modified or Improved Cylinder is the standard recommendation for steel with most waterfowl setups.
Unlike a traditional pump where you provide 100% of the cycling force manually, the SXP uses recoil energy from firing to help initiate the rearward stroke of the bolt.
