The SXP earned its reputation on speed. The inertia-assisted slide action uses dual steel action bars for a smooth, bind-free stroke, and once you break the shot, the action practically opens itself. Winchester built this platform for fast follow-ups, and it shows the first time you run it on flushing birds. The trigger group drops out for easy cleaning, the crossbolt safety is reversible for left-handed use, and the enlarged trigger guard opening is a nice touch when you are wearing gloves on a cold morning.
Full-coverage Mossy Oak DNA camo wraps the barrel, aluminum alloy receiver, and composite stock, so there is no shiny metal to flare wary birds. The synthetic furniture carries molded texturing on the grip and forend for a solid hold in rain, snow, or sweaty September heat, and the hard chrome-plated chamber and bore shrug off the wear and moisture that field guns inevitably see.
