The SXP runs on an inertia-assisted slide action with dual steel action bars, and it cycles fast enough that Winchester likes to brag about three shots in half a second. In practice, that translates to a slick, bind-free pump stroke and quick follow-ups on flushing birds. A four-lug rotary bolt locks up tight, the drop-out trigger group makes cleaning painless, and the crossbolt safety is reversible for lefties. The Speed-Plug system lets you pull the magazine plug without tools when you switch between hunts.
The Mossy Oak DNA pattern wraps the composite stock, barrel, and aluminum alloy receiver for head-to-toe concealment that works across seasons and terrain. The stock is trim in the hands with molded texturing on the grip and forend, so cold, wet gloves stay planted. Winchester's Inflex recoil pad steers comb movement away from your cheek, which you will appreciate after a box of 3.5 inch turkey loads.

Yes, this model has a 3.5 inch chamber, so it runs everything from standard 2.75 inch target and field loads up to 3 inch and 3.5 inch magnums. That range makes it a legitimate one-gun solution for turkey, waterfowl, upland birds, and clays. Just pattern your heavy loads first so you know where they hit.
You can. The aluminum alloy receiver comes drilled and tapped for Winchester scope bases and rings, so adding a red dot or low-power scope for turkey season is straightforward. Out of the box, the TruGlo fiber optic front sight on the vent rib works great for wingshooting.
It is more accommodating than most pumps. The crossbolt safety is reversible, so it can be swapped for left-handed operation, and the enlarged trigger guard opening makes loading and safety manipulation easier with gloves on. Ejection is still right-handed, but that is rarely an issue on a pump gun.
It ships with three flush-fit Invector-Plus chokes: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. Those three cover most hunting situations, from tight goose patterns to close-flushing quail. If you plan to chase turkeys with it, an extra-full Invector-Plus turkey choke is a worthwhile add-on for tighter patterns at longer range.
