The 20 gauge version is the one a lot of folks end up carrying the most. You get a 3" chamber that handles everything from light dove loads to stout waterfowl shells, a 5+1 capacity, and a gun that swings quick without beating you up at the end of a long day. The 28" vent rib barrel is back-bored for tighter, more even patterns, and the hard chrome-plated chamber and bore shrug off corrosion and wipe clean fast after a wet morning in the marsh. Up front, a TruGlo fiber-optic sight grabs your eye even in gray first-light conditions.
The Inflex Technology recoil pad does more than soften the push. It's designed to direct the comb down and away from your cheek under recoil, which makes a real difference on high-volume days. The 20 gauge SXP Hunter has a 3" chamber, so it runs both 2-3/4" and 3" shells. That range covers light target and dove loads up through heavier waterfowl and turkey shells. The hard chrome-plated chamber and bore also hold up well to steel and other nontoxic shot.
Yes, it ships with three Invector-Plus choke tubes: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. That trio covers most hunting situations, from tight patterns on passing birds to open patterns for close flushes over dogs. The Invector-Plus system is widely supported, so aftermarket tubes are easy to find if you want something more specialized.
It was built with exactly that in mind. The full TrueTimber VSX camo coverage keeps it hidden in the blind, the chrome-lined bore resists corrosion from wet conditions, and the fast rotary bolt action makes quick follow-up shots easy. The SXP Hunter has a reversible crossbolt safety, so lefties can flip it to work from the other side. The ejection port is still on the right, but plenty of left-handed hunters run SXPs without any trouble. The Inflex recoil pad and composite stock keep it comfortable from either shoulder.
