Waterfowl guns live a hard life, and Winchester built this SXP accordingly. The chamber and bore are hard chrome plated to fight corrosion and clean up quick after a day in the marsh, the receiver is aluminum alloy to keep weight down, and the bolt wears a matte black chrome finish that outlasts traditional bluing. A four-lug rotary bolt locks up tight to the barrel, and dual action bars keep the pump stroke smooth and bind-free even when your hands are cold and gloved.
The 3 inch chamber handles stout waterfowl loads, and the Inflex recoil pad takes real bite out of them, a welcome touch in a lighter 20 gauge. Up front, a TruGlo fiber optic sight glows on the vent rib so you can pick it up fast against gray skies. You get three Invector-Plus choke tubes in full, modified, and improved cylinder, covering everything from tight passing shots to birds hanging over the decoys. Sling swivel studs come standard, and the Speed Plug system lets you pull the magazine plug without hunting down tools.

As with any shotgun, avoid running steel through the full choke at tight constriction with larger shot sizes; the modified tube is the better call for most steel loads.
The camo is applied over the barrel, receiver, and composite stock, giving full coverage that blends well in timber and marsh grass. Underneath it, the aluminum receiver and chrome-lined bore resist the moisture that wrecks blued guns. Give it a wipe-down after wet hunts and it will stay looking good for years.
For a lot of hunters, yes. The 20 gauge version is lighter, quicker handling, and noticeably softer shooting, which matters on high-volume days. With today's waterfowl loads, a 20 over decoys gives up very little, and it doubles nicely as a dove and upland gun.
