Winchester built this pump around a rotary bolt with an inertia-assisted slide that practically pumps itself after the shot, so getting on a second bird feels natural instead of rushed. Four locking lugs give the bolt a solid lockup, and dual steel action bars keep everything running straight with no twist or bind, even with cold hands and a wet forend.
Waterfowl guns live a hard life, and this one is set up for it. The chamber and bore are hard chrome plated, the bolt wears a matte black chrome finish, and the composite stock is wrapped in Mossy Oak Bottomland camo along with the barrel and aluminum alloy receiver. The 3.5 inch chamber handles everything from light 2.75 inch loads up to heavy magnum steel, and the SXP feeds steel, bismuth, or tungsten without complaint. Textured grip panels on the forend and pistol grip keep your hold locked in when everything is soaked.
The 28 inch barrel is back-bored to .742 for better patterns and less felt recoil, and it uses the Invector-Plus choke system with full, modified, and improved cylinder tubes in the box. A TruGlo fiber optic front bead sits on the vent rib and picks up fast in gray, early morning light. On the back end, Winchester's Inflex recoil pad directs the comb down and away from your cheek, which takes real sting out of a long volley of 3.5 inch loads.

Keep in mind the magazine capacity is rated at four 2.75 inch shells, so it holds fewer of the longer stuff. That flexibility makes it easy to practice cheap and hunt heavy with the same gun.
It is. The bore and chamber are hard chrome plated and the gun is rated for steel, bismuth, tungsten, and lead loads. The included Invector-Plus choke tubes handle steel as well, though as with any shotgun, avoid running steel through the full choke with larger shot sizes to protect your patterns and the tube.
