The .350 Legend has earned a loyal following in straight-wall country, and the Winchester XPR Thumbhole Varmint SR gives that cartridge a serious platform to work from. The 24-inch chromoly barrel is button rifled with a 1:16 twist, free-floated the full length of the forearm, and finished in tough blued Perma-Cote to shrug off weather and field wear. The muzzle comes threaded 11/16×24 with a thread protector installed, so adding a suppressor or brake is simple. That is what the SR in the name stands for: Suppressor Ready.
Wood laminate is dense, stable, and far more resistant to warping and flex than a standard walnut stock, which means your point of impact stays put through humidity swings and temperature changes. The thumbhole design with raised cheekpiece gives you a consistent grip and cheek weld whether you are shooting off a bench, from sticks, or resting on a blind rail. Winchester also added a vented forearm to help the barrel cool between strings and two sling swivel studs up front, so you can run a bipod and a sling at the same time. An Inflex recoil pad takes the edge off, though .350 Legend is already an easy cartridge on the shoulder.
The M.O.A. trigger is the same three-lever design found in the Model 70, tuned for zero take-up, zero creep, and zero overtravel, and it breaks clean enough to make the most of a good load. The bolt is machined from chromoly bar stock with three locking lugs, a short 60-degree lift for scope clearance, and a slick nickel Teflon coating that cycles smoothly even when things get dirty. A two-position thumb safety with a separate bolt release lets you unload with the safety engaged, and the receiver comes drilled and tapped for your choice of bases.
A detachable single-stack magazine holds four rounds for a 4+1 total capacity, and it drops free easily for quick reloads or safe unloading. Between the stable stock, the crisp trigger, and that long free-floated barrel, this XPR is a natural fit for whitetail in straight-wall zones, hogs, and extended sessions at the range.
The .350 Legend version uses 11/16×24 threading with a .750 inch barrel diameter at the thread shoulder. That differs from the 5/8×24 threading found on most of the other calibers in this line, so double check compatibility before ordering a brake or suppressor mount. A thread protector cap comes installed from the factory.
No, it ships without sights or optics. The chromoly steel receiver is drilled and tapped, so mounting a base and rings is quick and you can set it up with whatever glass suits your hunting or range needs. The short 60-degree bolt lift also gives you extra clearance for larger scope eyepieces.
Laminate is heavier than synthetic, but that added weight steadies your hold and soaks up recoil. It is also extremely stable, resisting the warping and flex that can shift your zero, and the thumbhole grip with raised cheekpiece gives you a repeatable hold and sight picture shot after shot. For bench work and stand hunting, it is a great trade.
The .350 Legend chambering shines for deer and hog hunting inside about 200 yards, especially in areas where straight-wall cartridges are popular. Recoil is mild, ammo is widely available, and the 24 inch free-floated barrel with the M.O.A. trigger makes it plenty accurate for range sessions too. It is a comfortable rifle for newer hunters and seasoned ones alike.
