This XPR Hunter package ships with a Vortex Crossfire II 3-9×40 scope with a BDC reticle sitting in Weaver-style rings and bases, which means you skip the whole hunt for compatible mounts and get right to zeroing. Chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum with a full 26 inch barrel, this setup makes the most of the cartridge's velocity, and that matters when you're stretching shots across a canyon at elk or mule deer.
Winchester built the XPR by borrowing proven ideas from the Model 70 and pairing them with modern manufacturing, and the result punches well above its class. The receiver is machined from solid steel bar stock, the button-rifled barrel is fully free-floated, and the MOA trigger breaks clean with no take-up or creep. The bolt runs on three locking lugs with a short 60 degree lift, so your hand clears the scope when you cycle a follow-up round, and the nickel Teflon coating keeps it running smooth even after a wet week in camp. A two-position thumb safety locks the bolt, though a separate release button lets you unload with the safety still on. Nice touch.
The composite stock wears TrueTimber Strata camo, a pattern that blends into just about any terrain, while the barrel and receiver get a Permacote flat dark earth finish that shrugs off moisture and won't throw glare. Winchester's Inflex recoil pad takes real bite out of the .300 Win Mag's push, and sling swivel studs come installed so you're not drilling into a new stock. The detachable three-round box magazine drops free for quick loading and lets you carry a spare instead of loose rounds rattling in a pocket.

The Vortex Crossfire II 3-9×40 comes factory mounted in Weaver-style rings and bases, and it's bore sighted at the factory. You'll still want to confirm and fine-tune your zero at the range with your hunting ammo before the season, since bore sighting only gets you on paper.
.300 Win Mag has real thump, no way around that, but this setup manages it better than most. The Inflex recoil pad does a solid job soaking up the push, and the 26 inch barrel adds a bit of weight up front that helps tame muzzle rise. It's very manageable for a magnum, especially from field positions.
The XPR has a strong reputation for accuracy thanks to its free-floated, button-rifled barrel, solid steel receiver, and the crisp MOA trigger that's adjustable for pull weight and over-travel. Many of these rifles will group around an inch at 100 yards with ammo they like. The BDC reticle in the Crossfire II gives you holdover points for extended shots once you learn your load's trajectory.
