The SXP line has a reputation for being one of the quickest-cycling pump guns you can buy, and the Hybrid Defender puts that speed into a package that makes sense for real-world use. Chambered for 3 inch 12 gauge shells with an 18 inch barrel and 5+1 capacity, it stays short, light, and easy to move through a hallway, a deer blind, or thick brush.
The Hybrid part of the name comes from the two-tone setup: a matte black Perma-Cote finish on the barrel and aluminum alloy receiver, matched with a Woodland camo hydro-dipped composite stock and forend. It looks sharp, but the practical stuff matters more. The chrome-plated chamber and bore shrug off corrosion and clean up quick, the Inflex recoil pad takes real bite out of heavy loads, and the TruGlo fiber optic front sight picks up light fast when you need to get on target in a hurry. The receiver comes drilled and tapped too, so adding an optic down the road is simple.
Unlike a lot of fixed-choke defensive shotguns, this one is threaded for the Invector-Plus system and ships with a cylinder choke tube installed. That open choke throws wide, even patterns with buckshot and handles Foster-style slugs well, but swap in a tighter tube and you have a legitimate short-barreled option for turkey, small game, or hogs. Sling swivel studs come standard, so it carries easy on a walk to the stand or around camp.

Yes, it has a 3 inch chamber, so it runs both 2-3/4 inch and 3 inch 12 gauge shells. Keep in mind the 5-round magazine capacity is based on 2-3/4 inch shells, so you'll fit fewer of the longer magnums in the tube.
This model is threaded for Winchester's Invector-Plus choke system and comes with a cylinder tube installed. That means you can leave the open choke in for defensive loads and slugs, or swap in a tighter tube for turkey and small game work, which is a nice step up from fixed-choke defensive shotguns.
You can. The receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory, so adding a rail and a red dot or low-power optic is a straightforward job. Out of the box, the TruGlo fiber optic front sight is bright and quick to pick up on its own.
The SXP is known for its speed.
