Most compact rifles feel like an afterthought, a full-size gun with the stock lopped off. The Mark V Carbon Compact is not that. Weatherby built this one from the ground up for folks who shoot better with a shorter stock, whether that is a smaller-framed hunter, a younger shooter growing into a serious rifle, or anyone who just prefers a 13 inch length of pull over the standard 13.625. The slender forearm, slimmer grip with a subtle palm swell, and raised comb all work together so you settle in behind the scope naturally instead of fighting the gun for a cheek weld.
The 22 inch BSF carbon fiber barrel starts with a 416R stainless match-grade blank that gets sleeved in carbon fiber under tension. The result is a barrel that stays rigid as it heats up, sheds weight where you feel it most, and cools quickly thanks to air gaps built into the design. Weatherby tops it off with the Accubrake DST, a directional self-timing brake on 5/8×24 threads, so felt recoil in 6.5 Creedmoor is downright gentle. Behind it all sits the lighter 6-lug Mark V action with its famously short 54 degree bolt lift, which means fast cycling and plenty of scope clearance.
The Monte Carlo fiberglass stock is hand-laid and hand-painted in Sheridan, Wyoming, done up in black with brown, green, and white sponge accents. The receiver and trigger guard wear OD Green Cerakote while the bolt, knob, and safety get Graphite Black, a combination that looks sharp and shrugs off weather and hard miles.
Like every Mark V, this rifle carries Weatherby's sub-MOA promise: a three-shot group of .99 inch or better at 100 yards from a cold barrel with factory or premium ammo. Pair that accuracy with the flat-shooting, easy-recoiling 6.5 Creedmoor and a stock that fits, and you have a deer and antelope rifle that will be handed down someday rather than traded in.
Not at all. The 13 inch length of pull is about five-eighths of an inch shorter than Weatherby's standard stock, which suits smaller-framed hunters and younger shooters especially well. That said, plenty of average-sized folks prefer a shorter stock when wearing heavy layers or shooting from a blind, and the raised comb and slim grip make it comfortable for a wide range of builds.
Yes. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24, which is the common pattern for most 6.5 Creedmoor suppressors and aftermarket brakes. Just spin off the included Accubrake DST and thread on your can. Keep in mind point of impact usually shifts a bit when you swap muzzle devices, so confirm zero afterward.
The BSF design wraps a turned-down 416R stainless match barrel in carbon fiber loaded under tension, which adds stiffness while cutting a lot of weight. Air gaps between the carbon and the steel let heat escape faster than a solid barrel, so groups stay consistent as you shoot. The end result is a lighter rifle that holds its accuracy through longer strings.
