The Walkers Recon Digital Electronic Earmuffs give you real hearing protection without cutting you off from the world around you. At the core is Sound Activated Compression, which reacts in a split second to muffle the crack of a gunshot while digital amplification bumps up the low-level sounds you want, like a range officer's call or a buddy talking two lanes over. With a 26 dB noise reduction rating packed into a slim, over-the-head design, these hold their own on a busy indoor line, out in the field, or around loud gear like a chainsaw at the cabin.
Where these pull ahead of older electronic muffs is the audio. The advanced digital circuit paired with full dynamic range HD speakers and MEM microphones delivers clear, balanced sound rather than the tinny, blown-out amplification a lot of us grew up with. Soft sounds come through natural, so you can carry on a normal conversation between strings without yanking your muffs off. There's a 3.5mm audio jack too, so you can plug into a phone, computer, or handheld radio.
The Recon runs a sound-dampening composite housing with a bonded rubber coating that adds durability and helps knock down loud outside noise even further. The whole thing is IPX4 rated, so sweat, humidity, and a surprise rainstorm are not a problem. The low-profile cups pack down easy and keep a clean cheek weld when you shoulder a long gun, and folks consistently note how comfortable they stay through a full range day.
Two AAA batteries come in the box, so you can pop them in and get to work right away. An adjustable auto shutoff after 2, 4, or 6 hours helps you avoid draining them if you forget to power down. If you want to take things further, the Recon pairs with the Recon Hybrid Communicator walkie talkie for Bluetooth phone connectivity and hands-free comms across 22 GPRS channels at range. The Flat Dark Earth finish is a nice bonus if you want your gear to match the rest of your kit.
The Recon muffs carry a 26 dB noise reduction rating. That is a solid number for electronic muffs and holds up well on a busy indoor range or around loud equipment. The Sound Activated Compression also reacts in a split second to clamp down on the sharp crack of gunfire.
Yes, that is really the whole point of the digital amplification. The muffs boost low-level environmental sounds so you can talk with people around you or catch a range officer's call without pulling them off. The full dynamic range HD speakers keep that amplified audio clear and natural rather than tinny.
They run on two AAA batteries, which come included in the box so you can use them right away. An adjustable auto shutoff kicks in after 2, 4, or 6 hours to help you save power if you forget to turn them off.
The muffs themselves have a 3.5mm audio jack so you can plug into a phone, computer, or handheld radio. For wireless use, they pair with the separately sold Recon Hybrid Communicator walkie talkie, which adds Bluetooth phone connectivity and hands-free comms across 22 GPRS channels.
