The Walker's Razor Slim Electronic Muff earned its reputation for good reason. It packs real electronic hearing protection into one of the lowest-profile muffs Walker's makes, which means it stays clear of your stock when you shoulder a rifle or shotgun. You get a 23 dB noise reduction rating along with two hi-gain omnidirectional microphones and full dynamic range HD speakers, so you can carry on a conversation or catch a range officer's call without pulling anything off your head.
The magic is in the sound-activated compression. When a shot goes off, the electronics clamp down in about 0.02 seconds, then hand your hearing right back to natural amplified sound. The speakers never fully cut out the way older muffs used to, so situational awareness stays intact. Independent volume knobs are recessed into the cups and easy to find by feel, and there's a standard audio input jack if you want to plug in a phone or a Walker's walkie talkie.
The housing is a sound-dampening composite with a soft matte coating, and the headband is padded up top with a slick, easy-to-wipe underside. People who wear these all day tend to mention how little bulk they add. The slim cups also play well with thin-frame shooting glasses, which is a nice touch when you're layering eye and ear pro.
Power comes from two AAA batteries tucked into an external compartment on the right cup, so swapping them takes seconds with no tools. Batteries are included to get you started. Between the fast reaction time, the clear amplification, and the compact footprint, the Razor Slim is a smart pick for shooters, hunters, and anyone spending time around loud noise who still wants to hear what's going on around them.
It carries a 23 dB noise reduction rating, which covers most range and outdoor shooting situations. The sound-activated compression reacts in about 0.02 seconds to clamp down on the report of a shot, then returns to amplified ambient sound. Unlike older muffs, the speakers keep running instead of cutting out completely, so you stay aware of what's around you.
The muffs run on two AAA batteries, and a set comes in the box so you can start using them right away. The battery compartment sits in an external pocket on the right cup, so changing them takes seconds with no tools. Turning the volume dial down also serves as the power switch, so remember to shut them off when you're done to save battery.
Yes. The low-profile cups are one of the main reasons folks like this muff, since they stay clear of your cheek weld when you shoulder a long gun. They work especially well with AR platforms and precision rifles. With some shotgun stocks the bottom edge of the cup can sit closer to your face, so it's worth a quick check of your fit before a long clays session.
There's a standard audio input jack built in, so you can plug in a phone, music player, or a compatible two-way radio. That turns the muffs into a set of hearing-protected headphones while you're at the range or hanging out between strings. The connection uses a common audio cable, so it pairs with plenty of accessories.
