Its patented low profile short stroke piston system uses a fully supported one piece op rod and a removable gas block that matches the footprint of a standard direct impingement setup, so you get the cooler, cleaner operation of a piston gun in a rifle that still feels like the AR you already know. A staged gas bleed system keeps it cycling consistently with a suppressor or without one, across a wide range of factory ammo. If you shoot left handed or run a can, the reduced gas blowback alone makes this platform worth a hard look.
The 11.5 inch heavy profile barrel is cold hammer forged with machined cooling flutes, a QPQ nitride finish, and a 1:7 twist that stabilizes everything from light varmint loads to heavier match bullets. VKTR thermal fits the barrel to the forged upper receiver, which tightens accuracy potential and helps prevent point of impact shift as the gun heats up. Inside, a precision machined one piece bolt carrier with an enhanced cam path and hard chrome finish delivers consistent lockup shot after shot, and it takes the piston impact on integrated studs built for the long haul.
This is not a stripped down base model you need to upgrade later. It ships with a Radian Raptor charging handle, a crisp single stage Hiperfire trigger, Magpul furniture, and a 9.85 inch free float M-LOK handguard with a continuous top rail for optics and accessories. The controls are fully ambidextrous, including a billet machined magazine release and bolt catch plus the safety selector, so it runs the same from either shoulder. The whole package wears a durable Magpul FDE Cerakote finish and comes with two 30 round Magpul PMAGs and a hard case, ready to zero and run.

The 1:7 twist on the VK-1 FRGD is a versatile rate that handles a wide spectrum of bullet weights. It stabilizes heavier 62 to 77 grain loads very well, and owners report solid accuracy with common 55 grain range ammo too. The staged gas system also helps it cycle reliably across different factory loads.
It ships with two Magpul Gen 3 PMAG 30-round magazines. Since the VK-1 is built on the AR-15 pattern, it accepts standard AR-15 magazines, so your existing PMAGs, aluminum GI mags, and other quality options will drop right in.
