This guide rod is specifically sized for 1911 Commander models with 4.25 inch barrels. It's designed as a drop-in replacement and will work with any standard Commander-length 1911. If your gun has a standard-length 5 inch barrel or a shorter Officer size, you'll need a different guide rod.
The two-piece rod separates into two parts when you need to field strip your gun. Instead of wrestling with spring tension while trying to manage a full-length rod, you simply unscrew the lower section with the included Allen wrench and lift it free.
