The Trijicon HD XR Night Sights (601169) are built for the shooter who wants speed up close and precision at distance out of one sight set. This yellow front outline version fits large frame Glock MOS pistols, and it pairs a photoluminescent painted front ring with green tritium so your eye snaps to the front post in any lighting. When the sun goes down, the tritium lamps take over and keep three glowing dots in view without any batteries or charging.
The big difference is the front sight. The HD XR uses a thinner 0.122 inch front post compared to the wider standard HD blade. That slimmer post gives you more light on either side of the sight when it's centered in the rear notch, which translates to a larger field of view and a cleaner sight picture at longer ranges. If you shoot past typical defensive distances or just want a more refined aiming point, that narrower front is the reason to reach for the XR.
Each Trijicon tritium lamp sits inside an aluminum cylinder and rides on a silicone rubber cushion, so it can shrug off heavy recoil round after round. The lamp is capped with a sapphire jewel that spreads the light evenly and adds a layer of protection against punctures and cleaning solvents. The green tritium carries a 12 year warranty from the date of manufacture, so you're looking at years of dependable low-light performance.
This set uses the MOS-specific rear dovetail pattern. On MOS slides the rear dovetail sits further back, and standard sights tend to overhang the rear of the slide. The MOS pattern rear on this set gives you the same HD sight picture without that overhang. These are standard height sights, not suppressor height, so plan accordingly if you're running a can or a taller optic setup. Professional installation is recommended to get everything seated and zeroed correctly.
This set uses the MOS rear dovetail pattern for large frame Glock MOS pistols. The MOS pattern is designed so the sight sits properly without hanging off the back of the slide, which is what happens when you put a standard sight on an MOS slide. Double check your exact model against the fitment list before ordering to be sure.
The main difference is the front sight post. The HD XR uses a thinner 0.122 inch front post, while the standard HD has a wider blade. That narrower post gives you more light on either side and a larger field of view, which helps with faster target identification and more precise shots at distance.
No. Tritium glows on its own with no batteries and no need to charge it in light, so the three dots stay visible in the dark around the clock. The green tritium is warranted for 12 years from the date of manufacture.
No, the HD XR set is standard height and is not designed to co-witness over a suppressor or through most red dot optics. If you plan to run a can or need taller sights for an optic, you'll want a suppressor height set instead. Professional installation is recommended for a proper fit and zero.
