Description

A 3.5-inch autoloader that will also run cheap target loads without a hiccup is a rare thing, and that is exactly what the TriStar Viper Max was built to do. The trick is a two-piston gas system: pop in the light load piston for 2 3/4 inch shells at the range, then swap to the heavy piston when it is time to sling big waterfowl magnums at geese. The spare piston even stores inside the forearm, so it is always with the gun instead of buried in a drawer at home. One shotgun, one gas system swap, and you are covered from the skeet field to the timber.

Built for the Blind: Viper Max Field Features

The 28-inch chrome-lined barrel wears a vent rib with a matted sight plane and a fiber optic front sight that picks up light on gray, drizzly mornings when ducks fly best. The whole gun is dipped in Realtree Max-7, a pattern made for marshes, flooded timber, and crop fields. Overmolded rubber grip panels on the stock and forearm keep your hands planted when everything is wet, and the synthetic furniture shrugs off the abuse a duck gun takes. A recoil pad and swivel studs come standard, and the gas operation takes real bite out of those heavy loads. It carries at 7.4 pounds with a 14.5-inch length of pull, holds 5+1, and the bolt locks open on the last round so you always know where you stand.
