The gas-operated action is designed to run both light 2-3/4 inch target loads and heavy 3 inch waterfowl loads interchangeably. Like most gas guns, give it a few boxes of shells to break in, and keep the gas system reasonably clean. After that it should feed just about anything you put through it.
The barrel is threaded for the Beretta/Benelli Mobil choke pattern, which is one of the most common thread systems out there. That means aftermarket options for turkey, waterfowl, and predator chokes are easy to find. Three tubes come with the gun: improved cylinder, modified, and full, plus a choke box and wrench.
The cut-off blocks shells in the magazine tube from feeding when you open the action. That lets you unload the chamber or swap in a different shell, like trading to a heavier load when geese come in, without emptying the whole magazine. It's a genuinely useful feature in the blind.
For pass shooting and open-water duck and goose hunting, a 30 inch barrel is a favorite. The longer sighting plane and added weight up front smooth out your swing and help you stay on longer crossing shots. If you hunt tight timber or shoot from a cramped blind, the shorter-barreled Viper G2 variants may handle a bit quicker, but for most waterfowl work the 30 inch is hard to beat.
