The 26-inch barrels wear a ventilated top and mid rib with a fiber optic front sight, so your eye picks up the bead fast when a bird flushes or a clay leaves the house. Chambered for 3-inch shells, it handles everything from light target loads to heavier field ammo, and the chrome-lined chambers and bores clean up quick and shrug off wear over the long haul.
TriStar built this one around a solid steel frame with a sealed action that keeps grit out of the internals, plus self-adjusting locking lugs that keep lockup tight as the gun breaks in. The single selective trigger pairs with a top tang safety that doubles as the barrel selector. Slide it right to fire the top barrel first, left for the bottom, so you can stage your choke pattern for the shot at hand. Extractors lift spent hulls clear for easy plucking, and the steel mono-block barrel construction keeps things sturdy where it counts.
The semi-gloss Turkish walnut stock and forearm carry laser-cut checkering for a secure grip, and the engraved receiver gives the Setter more character than you'd expect at this level. A rubber recoil pad takes the edge off the already mild 20 gauge push. At 6.3 pounds with a 43-3/4 inch overall length, it swings lively on quail and grouse but settles down nicely on the skeet field too.
Five interchangeable Beretta/Benelli Mobil-style choke tubes come standard: Skeet, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full, along with a choke box and wrench. That spread covers close-flushing woodcock all the way out to late-season pheasants. TriStar backs the Setter S/T with a five-year mechanical warranty, which is solid peace of mind for a working field gun.
This model ships with five interchangeable Beretta/Benelli Mobil-style choke tubes: Skeet, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full. A choke box and wrench are included as well. Since it uses the common Mobil pattern, aftermarket tubes are easy to find if you want extended or specialty chokes down the road.
The barrel selector is built into the top tang safety. With the safety engaged, slide it to the right to fire the top barrel first, or to the left to fire the bottom barrel first. That lets you pair your tighter choke with the longer shot, which is handy on flushing birds.
It's one of the more popular entry points into the over/under world for good reason. This shotgun uses extractors rather than automatic ejectors. When you break the action, spent shells lift up out of the chambers so you can pull them by hand. Plenty of clay and upland folks prefer extractors since your empties never end up on the ground.
