This is the second generation of TriStar's popular Raptor line, and the upgrades are the kind you notice on day one: a completely redesigned stock and forearm, an oversized bolt handle you can grab with cold or gloved hands, a widened bolt release paddle, a softer recoil pad, and a bright red fiber optic front sight riding on the vent rib.
Under the walnut, the Raptor II runs a proven gas-operated action that cycles everything from target loads up to heavy 3 inch waterfowl shells once it's broken in. Like most gas autoloaders, plan on running a box or two of stouter loads through it first before switching to lighter fare, and it will settle in nicely. The chamber and barrel are chrome lined for corrosion resistance and easier cleanup after a wet morning in the marsh, and the 28 inch barrel gives the gun a smooth, deliberate swing that suits pheasants, doves, and crossing clays alike. At around 7.1 pounds, it carries fine on a long walk but has enough weight to soak up recoil at the range.

Capacity is 5+1 with 2-3/4 inch shells, and a magazine cutoff near the trigger guard lets you swap the chambered shell without emptying the tube.

Run 100 to 150 rounds of heavier field or magnum loads through it first, and after that it will cycle standard target loads reliably. Very light low-recoil loads may still be inconsistent, which is typical for gas guns.
