Trijicon's HD Night Sights take a smart approach to the age-old problem with tritium sights: they can be tough to pick up in daylight. This set solves that by wrapping the green tritium front lamp in a bold yellow photoluminescent ring, so the front dot pops in bright sun, transitional light, and pitch black alike. The result is a sight picture that guides your eye to the front dot fast, which is exactly what you want on a defensive or duty pistol.
The front blade runs taller and wider than a standard sight, and the green tritium lamp sits under a domed sapphire cap that focuses the glow for a noticeably brighter aiming point. That glow-in-the-dark yellow outline soaks up ambient light during the day and keeps the dot visible when the sun drops. Users consistently point out that the front sight is easy to find and shows up well in natural light and low light, which is the whole reason these earned their reputation.
The rear sight skips the extra dots and uses a wider U-shaped notch outlined in black, angled and serrated to cut glare. The green tritium is warranted by Trijicon for 12 years from the date of manufacture, and because the front sight sits taller than factory, most folks have the best luck getting these installed by a gunsmith with a proper sight pusher.
This yellow-front set is cut for the Sig P220 with dovetail, P229, P240, P245, Pro 233, Pro 2340, and Pro 245. It is not made for the P365, and the 9mm/.357 SIG models like the P226 and P320 use a different HD set. Double-check your exact model and caliber before ordering.
Trijicon recommends professional installation, and there's good reason for that. The rear sight tends to go on easily, but the taller front sight can be tricky, and a standard Sig sight pusher may need a shim removed or the sights installed in a specific order to seat correctly. A gunsmith with the right tooling will save you the headache and protect the sights.
The front dot uses green tritium under a domed sapphire cap that focuses the light for a brighter aiming point, and it's ringed in yellow photoluminescent paint that glows after soaking up ambient light.
