This set is machined specifically for 1911 pistols with Novak low-mount dovetail cuts, so it drops into the same footprint your factory Novak-style sights use. The front blade sits a touch taller than a standard sight and gets an aiming point ringed in bright orange photoluminescent paint, while the rear runs a subdued black outline with a wide U-shaped notch. The whole layout is designed to pull your eye straight to the front dot instead of splitting your focus across three even dots.
That orange ring around the front tritium lamp is the whole point. In daylight and transitional light, the photoluminescent paint charges off ambient light and glows, giving you a high-contrast reference without needing batteries or switches. Once it gets truly dark, the green tritium lamp takes over. All three dots use green tritium, so you keep a usable three-dot picture in no-light conditions while the orange front still stands out during the day.
The front and rear sights are cut from solid steel, and Trijicon houses each tritium lamp in a cushioned aluminum sleeve capped with a sapphire jewel that spreads the light evenly and shields it from solvents and impact. The rear sight face is steeply hooked, which gives you an edge to rack the slide one-handed against a belt or holster if a hand is out of commission. Angled, textured surfaces on both sights cut glare so the aiming point stays crisp.
This set is made for 1911 slides with genuine Novak low-mount dovetail cuts, and pistols like the Colt 1911 and Delta Elite are common matches. Dovetail dimensions can vary between makers even when they call the cut Novak, so it's worth checking your slide before install. These are pistol sights, so professional installation with a proper sight pusher is the way to go to seat them right and avoid marring the slide.
