Description

Running a DeltaPoint Pro on your pistol is a smart move, but a red dot lives and dies by its battery and glass. This rear iron sight is Leupold's answer to that. It attaches directly to the rearward slot on the back of the DeltaPoint Pro and gives you a mechanical aiming reference the moment your dot decides to quit at the worst possible time.

How the DeltaPoint Pro Rear Iron Sight Earns Its Keep

The whole point here is redundancy without adding a second unit to your slide. A small cover pops off the back of the DeltaPoint Pro and this sight takes its place, and the mounting hardware you need comes right in the package. Once it is on, you get an open rear notch that lines up through the optic window, plus a way to quickly re-reference your zero if you ever pull the optic and put it back. It handles both windage and elevation adjustment, so you can dial it in to match your load and your front sight.

Getting a True Co-Witness With Your DeltaPoint Pro Rear Sight

Here is the part worth knowing before you buy. Because the DeltaPoint Pro sits taller than your factory sights, you will need a taller front sight post to actually co-witness through this rear notch. A lot of pistols cut for the DPP, like the SIG M17, were designed around this exact setup, and companies such as Dawson Precision make front sights in the right heights. A common rule of thumb is measuring from the top of the slide to the bottom of the optic glass and adding roughly 0.065 to 0.080 inches to land on the correct front sight height. The rear notch runs on the narrower side, so pairing it with a slim front post gives you the cleanest sight picture.

Built Like the Rest of Leupold

The fit and finish match the quality of the DeltaPoint Pro itself. It is machined from aluminum with a matte black coating that blends into the optic instead of catching your eye, and it is compact enough that it adds almost nothing in the way of weight or bulk. For anyone who carries or competes with a DPP, it is cheap insurance that keeps the gun in the fight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need anything else to co-witness with the DeltaPoint Pro rear iron sight?

Yes, you will need a taller front sight post. Because the DeltaPoint Pro rides higher than your factory sights, a standard front sight sits too low to line up through this rear notch. Measure from the top of your slide to the bottom of the optic glass and add roughly 0.065 to 0.080 inches to figure out the correct front sight height, or go with a suppressor-height post.

How does this rear sight attach to the DeltaPoint Pro?

There is a small cover on the rearward portion of the DeltaPoint Pro that pops off, and this iron sight installs right in that spot. The hardware you need to mount it is included in the box. Most people find the install straightforward, though getting the factory insert out of the optic can take a little patience.

Will this fit any pistol that has a DeltaPoint Pro?

It mounts to the DeltaPoint Pro optic itself rather than to your slide, so if you are running a genuine DeltaPoint Pro it will fit. Some pistols, such as the SIG M17, were specifically designed around this setup. Just remember your slide needs to work with a taller front sight to get a usable co-witness, and note that a rear dovetail sight cannot be installed at the same time.

Is the DeltaPoint Pro rear iron sight adjustable?

It is. The sight allows for both windage and elevation adjustment, so you can fine-tune your point of impact to match your ammo and front sight. The rear notch runs a bit narrow, so a slim front post gives you the best sight picture.
