Description

The Tisas 1911 Night Stalker DS is what happens when a company known for getting 1911s right decides to build a high-capacity double stack version, and the result punches well above its weight. At the heart of it is a forged 4140 carbon steel frame and slide machined to tight tolerances, paired with a cold hammer forged 5.55 inch barrel with a 1:10 twist. The extra barrel length isn't for show. It's threaded for a suppressor with an M13.5x1LH thread pattern, making this one of the few factory double stack 1911s that's genuinely can-ready out of the box.

The slide is cut for optics with a direct mount footprint for Holosun 507K and RMSc pattern red dots, and the factory sights co-witness in the lower third with most optics. You get a tritium green front sight with an orange dot ring up front and a serrated black rear in a Glock dovetail, so swapping rear sights down the road is simple. The whole pistol wears a Platinum Grey Cerakote finish over the frame and slide with black small parts, giving it a clean two-tone look that holds up to real use.

Shooting-wise, the SF skeletonized trigger breaks at a crisp 4.75 pounds, and the single action design pairs with an ambidextrous thumb safety and extended beavertail grip safety. The reinforced polymer grip module has 25 LPI checkering front and rear with molded texture on the sides, plus a removable aluminum flared magwell for faster reloads. At 35 ounces unloaded, the steel frame soaks up 9mm recoil and keeps the gun flat through fast strings, which is exactly why these have become a popular entry point for shooters curious about the 2011 platform.

Each pistol ships with two 17-round Checkmate magazines, a lockable hard case, cleaning kit, bushing wrench, and trigger lock. Magazine compatibility extends to Tisas DS, Military Armament Corp, and STI 2011 pattern mags, so feeding it spares is easy. For competition, home defense, or suppressed range days, the Night Stalker DS delivers features that usually cost a whole lot more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Tisas Night Stalker DS optics ready, and what red dots fit?

Yes, the slide is cut for direct mounting of optics with the Holosun 507K and Shield RMSc footprint, no adapter plate needed. The factory sights are tall enough to give you a lower third co-witness with most compatible red dots, so your irons stay usable as a backup.

Can I suppress this pistol out of the box?

That's a big part of what the Night Stalker is built for. The 5.55 inch barrel comes factory threaded with a protector installed, and the tritium front sight sits tall enough to work with most setups. Just confirm your suppressor or adapter matches the thread pitch before mounting up.

What magazines does the Night Stalker DS take besides the factory ones?

It ships with two 17-round Checkmate magazines, and Tisas built it to run STI 2011 pattern mags as well, including Military Armament Corp and Tisas DS magazines. That makes finding spare and higher-capacity mags pretty painless compared to some proprietary double stack designs.

How does this compare to more expensive double stack 1911s like the Prodigy?

Shooters who own both consistently report the Tisas runs reliably out of the box with a crisp trigger and excellent fit between the slide and frame. You're not getting hand-fit custom shop polish, but the forged frame, slide, and barrel give it a solid foundation. For anyone wanting to try the 2011-style platform without a big spend, it's one of the best entry points going.

Is this a good gun for someone new to 1911s?

It's actually a friendly place to start. The 35 ounce steel frame makes 9mm recoil very soft, the single action trigger is light and predictable, and the ambidextrous safety works for lefties too. Just know that 1911-style pistols carry cocked and locked, so spend time learning the manual of arms before carrying or competing with it.

What comes in the box?

Tisas includes two 17-round magazines, a removable flared aluminum magwell, a lockable hard case, cleaning kit, bushing wrench, trigger lock, and the instruction manual. It's a more complete package than a lot of pistols at this level, and you're ready for the range as soon as you add ammo.
