There's a lot of 1911s out there, but the Tisas Night Stalker B9BA was clearly designed by people who actually think about carrying one. The 4.25-inch bull barrel with a single-port bushing-style compensator sits in a Commander-length slide on a full-size aluminum frame, which gives you that natural 1911 balance without the extra weight of an all-steel build. At just over 2 pounds unloaded, this is one of the lighter 1911s you'll handle in this class.
The biggest standout feature on the B9BA is the licensed Ed Brown Bobtail Cut on the frame. That rounded butt isn't just cosmetic — it tucks under a cover garment noticeably better than a standard squared-off grip, and it softens the feel in your hand during longer carry sessions. Tisas is one of the only manufacturers outside of Ed Brown's own shop authorized to use that trademarked cut, which tells you something about how seriously they're approaching this build.
The slide comes cut for RMSc and 507K footprint micro red dots right from the factory, and the pistol ships with a tritium front night sight and an adjustable rear for co-witness use. An integrated Picatinny rail up front gives you room for a light or laser, the ambidextrous thumb safety makes this equally usable for left- and right-handed shooters, and the internals run on Colt Series 70-compatible parts — meaning the aftermarket is wide open if you want to personalize the trigger or any other component.
The grey Cerakote finish covers both the aluminum frame and the forged steel slide, giving the whole gun a clean, uniform look that also holds up well to daily wear. Tisas backs the B9BA with a 1-year limited warranty on materials and workmanship, plus a lifetime service plan that kicks in after that first year. The bull barrel with target crown and 9mm chambering are both well-suited to feeding a wide variety of ammunition, including hollow points. Like any 1911-pattern pistol, it's good practice to run a few boxes of your chosen defensive load through it before trusting it for carry, but the Night Stalker line has a solid track record of reliable feeding across different bullet types and weights.
Aluminum frames are lighter but still very durable for a carry gun with normal use. The trade-off is that, over tens of thousands of rounds, an aluminum frame will show wear faster than a steel one — but for the vast majority of users, this won't be a practical concern.
