Most of the jags use standard 8-32 threads, while the .17 caliber steps down to 5-40, so they'll thread onto most brands of cleaning rods without needing an adapter.
Each jag has a pointed tip that keeps your patch centered as it travels down the bore, and once it clears the muzzle the patch drops right off instead of getting hung up. That tight patch-to-bore fit is what pushes solvent, fouling, and oil out cleanly on every pass. If you run copper solvents, keep in mind brass jags can show a little false blue on a patch, so a quick swap to a nylon or plated jag is worth it when you want an accurate read.

Most of the jags use standard 8-32 threads, which is the common size on the majority of cleaning rods on the market. The .17 caliber jag is the exception and uses 5-40 threads. As long as your rod has one of those two thread patterns, these will thread right on without an adapter.
You can use them, but solid brass jags can leave a faint blue tint on your patch when you're running copper solvents like Sweet's, which can look like copper fouling even when there isn't any. If you want a clean read while chasing copper, switch to a nylon or plated jag for those passes. For general cleaning, oiling, and drying, brass works great.
