Description

The Timney RPR is built to do one thing really well: give your Ruger Precision Rifle the clean, predictable break that the factory trigger just does not have. It is a fully self-contained, 100% drop-in unit, so there is no fitting or gunsmithing involved. The whole assembly slides into place, and you are ready to go shooting. Out of the box it arrives factory calibrated to an 8 oz first stage and a 1 lb second stage, which is a great starting point for most precision work.

What Sets This Timney RPR Trigger Apart

Timney machines the housing from military-grade 6061 T6 aluminum using CNC robotics, then anodizes it for durability. The trigger itself is CNC machined, heat treated, and coated, while the sear is wire EDM cut, heat treated to 58-60 Rockwell, and given a Teflon-nickel coating for a slick, long-lasting engagement. Every unit is individually tested and hand calibrated before it leaves the shop, which is a big reason these have such a loyal following among precision rifle folks. The curved shoe has a mild, comfortable profile that a lot of shooters prefer over a dead-straight blade.

Dialing In Your Timney RPR Two-Stage

While the factory settings are dialed for a light two-stage feel, both stages are adjustable if you want to fine-tune the pull. The first stage adjusts from 8 oz to 1 lb, and the second stage adjusts from 8 oz up to 2 lbs. You can tune sear engagement, over travel, and pull weight to match your style, whether you are ringing steel at distance or working on tighter groups at the range.

Real-World Payoff

The upgrade tends to show up on paper right away. Cutting out the creep and giving you a consistent, repeatable break makes it far easier to squeeze off a clean shot without disturbing your aim. If you have been fighting the stock trigger on your RPR, this is one of the most noticeable improvements you can make to the rifle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Timney RPR trigger require gunsmithing to install?

No. It is a self-contained, 100% drop-in unit that installs without any fitting or gunsmithing. Most people have it swapped in with basic hand tools in just a few minutes. Just take your time with the small springs during the swap so nothing gets away from you.

What rifles does this Timney RPR trigger fit?

This model is made for the centerfire Ruger Precision Rifle, including short, long, and magnum action variants. It is not designed for the Ruger Precision Rimfire, which uses a different Timney trigger. Double-check that you have the centerfire RPR before ordering.

Can I adjust the pull weight on the Timney RPR two-stage?

Yes. It ships factory calibrated to an 8 oz first stage and a 1 lb second stage, but both stages are user adjustable. The first stage adjusts from 8 oz to 1 lb and the second stage from 8 oz to 2 lb, and you can tune sear engagement and over travel as well.

Will this trigger actually tighten my groups?

A cleaner, more consistent break removes a big source of shooter-induced movement, which usually translates to tighter groups on paper. Many owners of the RPR trigger notice the difference the first time they shoot with it. It will not fix fundamentals for you, but it removes the stock trigger as an excuse.
