Description

The Greyman Ambidextrous Safety Selector is one of those upgrades that punches above its size. It replaces the factory selector on any Mil-Spec AR lower and gives you controls on both sides of the receiver, so lefties, righties, and folks who run a support-side thumb all get a selector that works the way their hand naturally moves. The levers are CNC machined from aircraft-grade aluminum with a crosshatch texture and an anodized black finish, so you get a positive thumb pad that holds up to real use without adding noticeable weight to the rifle.

Two Throws, Your Choice on the Greyman Ambi Selector

The part that sets this one apart is the selectable throw. You can install it as a traditional 90-degree selector or set it up for a 45-degree short throw, which shortens the distance your thumb travels from safe to fire. Shorter throw means faster manipulation without breaking your firing grip, and it's a popular setup for competition and defensive builds. Since the levers are modular, you also get to decide where the long lever and short lever go, so you can keep the standard-length paddle on your firing side and a lower-profile lever on the support side to keep it out of the way.

Building Out Your AR With the Greyman Selector

Everything you need to install it comes in the box, including both levers, the detent, spring, drum, and the screws. It's a genuine drop-in for Mil-Spec lowers, so if you've swapped a selector before you'll have it done in a few minutes. Worth noting: it plays nice with most aftermarket triggers, though a handful of drop-in trigger designs may not clear it, so it's smart to check your trigger before you order. As always, confirm the firearm is unloaded before you start and run a full function check once you're back together.

Timber Creek Outdoors is a family-run shop out of Springfield, Oregon that's earned a solid reputation for well-made AR components, and this selector carries the same attention to fit and finish their lineup is known for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Greyman ambidextrous safety selector fit my AR-15?

It's built as a drop-in replacement for the OEM selector on any Mil-Spec AR lower receiver, so it fits the vast majority of standard AR-15 builds. If your lower is Mil-Spec spec, you're good to go. Installation uses the parts and hardware included in the kit.

What's the difference between the 90-degree and 45-degree throw?

The 90-degree throw is the traditional setup where the lever sweeps a quarter turn from safe to fire. The 45-degree short throw cuts that distance in half, so your thumb moves less and you can get on target faster without shifting your grip. This selector lets you install it either way depending on your preference.

Does the Greyman selector work with aftermarket triggers?

It functions properly with most aftermarket triggers, but a few drop-in trigger designs may not clear it. It's a good idea to verify your specific trigger before installing. Always run a full function check after any safety or trigger work.

Can I choose which side the long and short lever go on?

Yes, the levers are modular so you decide the layout. Most people run the standard-length paddle on their firing-hand side and the shorter lever on the support side to keep it out of the way. It ships with both a long lever and a short lever so you can set it up your way.
