The Tetra Gun Bore Boa is one of the simplest ways to keep a 12 gauge barrel clean without dragging out a rod, jag, and a pile of patches. You feed the brass-weighted end down the breech, let it drop through, and pull the rope out the muzzle. In one pass it loosens fouling, scrubs it out, and carries lube along for the ride so your bore comes out clean and protected. For routine cleaning after a day at the range or in the field, it's tough to beat for speed.
The rope has a caliber-specific bronze brush embedded right into the material, so it makes close contact with every part of the bore as it travels through. That's the difference between a rope that just wipes and one that actually scrubs. Pulling from breech to muzzle is the way to go here since it carries the gunk out the front instead of pushing it back toward the action, which keeps residue from settling where you don't want it.
This thing plays nicely with whatever cleaner you already trust. Tetra built it with their Triple Action CLP in mind, but a splash of your usual bore solvent or gun oil on the brush section works great too. Some folks like to let solvent sit in the barrel for a minute before the first pull, then run the rope through a couple times until the bore looks right. On a 12 gauge, one or two passes usually does it for a normal cleaning.
The Bore Boa isn't a throwaway. When it starts looking grimy, hand wash it with warm water and a little soap, or toss it in a mesh laundry bag and run it through the machine, then hang it to air dry. Do that every so often and it'll keep serving you cleaning after cleaning. It rolls up small enough to live in a range bag or hunting vest, which makes it easy to keep one wherever your shotgun goes.

This version is sized specifically for 12 gauge bores, so it fits pump, semi-auto, over/under, and side-by-side shotguns chambered in 12 gauge. The gauge-specific fit is what lets the embedded bronze brush make full contact with the barrel walls. If you have shotguns in other gauges, Tetra offers the Bore Boa in those sizes too.
