The Gunfighter takes the proven 1873 single-action pattern and fixes the one complaint big-handed folks have had for over a century: the grip. Taylor's fitted the larger 1860 Army-size grip frame to this Uberti-built revolver, giving you noticeably more real estate to hold onto when you touch off a .45 Colt round. The checkered walnut stocks add some texture too, so the gun stays put in your hand instead of rolling around between shots.
This one wears the DE suffix, which tells you it left the shop with the Taylor Tuned action job. That means hand polished internals, custom springs, and a lighter hammer draw and trigger pull than a box-stock single action. If you have ever cocked a factory Italian clone next to a tuned one, you know the difference is night and day. Cowboy action competitors pay gunsmiths good money for this kind of work, and here it comes standard.
The finish combo is about as traditional as it gets: a blued 4.75-inch barrel and cylinder set against a color casehardened frame, with a blued steel triggerguard and backstrap rounding things out. Sights are the classic fixed blade front and frame notch rear, just like the originals. Overall length runs 10.35 inches and the gun weighs in at a handy 2.45 pounds unloaded, so it rides well in a holster all day.

It is built in Italy by Uberti, one of the most respected makers of traditional single-action reproductions, then imported and finished to Taylor's & Company specs. The frame is forged steel rather than cast, which gives it better grain structure and strength for regular shooting.
It is one of the most popular lengths for the sport. The shorter barrel clears leather faster and points quickly, which matters when the clock is running. You give up a little sight radius compared to a 5.5 or 7.5 inch gun, but most competitors find the speed worth the trade.
