Colt gets most of the glory from the Old West, but plenty of folks back then put their trust in Remington's solid-frame single actions instead. The 1875 Army Outlaw from Taylor's & Company recreates that classic, keeping the distinctive lines carried over from Remington's 1858 percussion revolvers, including the signature webbed ejector rod housing under the barrel. Frank James famously carried an 1875 Remington in .45 Colt for most of his riding days, and this reproduction chambers that same cartridge with a 5.5 inch barrel and six-round cylinder.
The white engraved finish is the headline here. The frame, barrel, and cylinder wear a photo engraving that has been hand-chased afterward to give the pattern real depth, all over forged, heat-treated steel left in the white. It catches light in a way blued guns just don't, and paired with the two-piece walnut grip and steel backstrap, it looks like something pulled straight out of a display case in 1880. Worth noting: white steel isn't stainless, so treat it like you would a blued gun with a light coat of oil and it will stay looking sharp. No, and that's an important distinction. The finish is white heat-treated carbon steel with photo engraving that gets hand-chased for extra depth. It needs the same care as a blued gun, so wipe it down after handling and keep a light film of oil on it to prevent rust.

The 1875 is a Remington pattern rather than a Colt pattern, which means a distinctive webbed ejector housing under the barrel and slightly different frame lines and grip shape.
