There's a reason the Taurus G3 keeps showing up in range bags everywhere. It takes the proven G-series platform and stretches it into a full-size 9mm that's comfortable to shoot all afternoon, and this version dresses it up with an OD Green Cerakote serrated slide over a coyote brown polymer frame. The two-tone earth-tone combo looks sharp without being flashy, and the Cerakote finish adds real wear resistance on top of the stainless steel slide underneath.
The grip is where the G3 earns its keep. Taurus stippled the frame generously and added a palm swell plus memory pads along the sides, so your hand lands in the same spot every draw and stays put when your palms get sweaty. The trigger breaks at around 6 pounds with a smooth take-up and a short reset that makes quick follow-up shots feel natural. It also has restrike capability, so if you ever hit a hard primer you can pull the trigger again instead of racking the slide. Up top you get a white dot front sight paired with a drift adjustable rear, and the 4" stainless barrel gives the 9mm round enough runway to shoot flat and stay accurate.
At roughly 25 ounces unloaded and about 7.3 inches long, this pistol carries enough weight to soak up recoil without feeling like a brick. The integrated Picatinny rail under the muzzle accepts lights and lasers, which makes it a solid pick for nightstand duty. Safety-wise, you're covered three ways: a manual thumb safety, a striker block, and a trigger safety. Taurus ships it with two magazines, one 17-rounder and one 15-rounder, so you're set for 17+1 capacity right out of the box. For a full-size 9mm that runs reliably and doesn't take itself too seriously in the looks department, the G3 is tough to argue with.
This model has a 17+1 capacity with the included 17-round magazine, meaning 17 in the mag plus one in the chamber. Taurus also includes a 15-round magazine in the box, so you get two mags total right out of the gate.
Yes, it has a frame-mounted manual thumb safety, plus a striker block and a trigger safety built in. That layered setup gives you both active and passive protection, and the thumb safety sits in a natural spot for easy operation.
It holds up well. The slide is stainless steel with an OD Green Cerakote finish over it, and Cerakote is one of the tougher applied coatings out there for resisting scratches, holster wear, and corrosion. The coyote brown polymer frame is colored through the material, so it won't chip or flake.
You sure can. The frame has an integrated Picatinny rail (Mil-STD 1913) under the barrel that accepts most common weapon lights and lasers. That makes this a popular pick for home defense setups where a light is a smart addition.
