Description
The Ruger 10/22 is one of the most-upgraded rifles out there, and the factory pencil barrel is usually the first thing folks swap. Tactical Solutions built the X-Ring to fix the two things people complain about most: too much weight up front and groups that could be tighter. It runs a 6061-T6 aluminum outer wrapped around a chromoly steel liner, which gives you the accuracy and longevity of a steel bore without the heft of a solid bull barrel. The result tips the scales at right around 15 ounces, which noticeably changes how the whole rifle balances and swings.
What the X-Ring Barrel Brings to Your 10/22
Accuracy comes from a button-rifled chromoly liner with a polished 11-degree target crown and a 1:16 twist that stabilizes standard and high-velocity .22 LR loads nicely. The .920 bull contour with fluting keeps things stiff while shaving grams, and the barrel shank is cut slightly oversized so it seats up tight in Ruger receivers and most aftermarket 10/22-style receivers too. It'll also work with the Ruger SR-22.
Threads, Finish, and Fitment Notes
The muzzle is threaded 1/2×28, the standard rimfire pattern, so any .22 can or muzzle device threads on without an adapter. The matte OD green finish looks great on a build and hides better in the field than a shiny barrel. One thing worth knowing before you order: this is a full .920 bull-diameter barrel, so it needs a bull-barrel channel. A factory wood sporter stock won't drop it in without work, but Magpul, Hogue, and aftermarket chassis inlet for .920 are ready to go.
Installation is the same easy two-screw V-block job the 10/22 is known for, so most people have it swapped in about ten minutes with basic tools. If you're chasing a lighter, more accurate rimfire for plinking, small-game hunting, or ringing steel, this is one of the more proven upgrades in the game.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the X-Ring barrel fit my factory Ruger 10/22 stock?
Not without modification. This is a full .920 bull-diameter barrel, so it needs a stock or chassis with a bull-barrel channel. Standard factory wood or synthetic sporter stocks are cut for the thin factory barrel, so you'll want a Magpul, Hogue, or aftermarket .920 stock to drop it in cleanly.
Is the X-Ring barrel hard to install?
Not at all. The 10/22 uses a simple two-screw V-block that holds the barrel to the receiver, so swapping it out is about a ten-minute job with basic hand tools. No gunsmith required for most people.
What threads are on the muzzle and will my suppressor fit?
The muzzle is threaded 1/2×28, which is the standard rimfire thread pitch. Any .22 suppressor or muzzle device built to that spec will thread right on without needing an adapter.
Does the aluminum construction hurt accuracy or durability?
No. The X-Ring wraps a chromoly steel liner inside the 6061-T6 aluminum sleeve, so all the rifling and wear happens on hardened steel just like a traditional barrel. You get the accuracy and longevity of steel with a big cut in overall weight.
