The Sylvan Arms SA5 Pro Gen.5 is the folding stock adapter you reach for when you want your AR to shrink down for a truck, a pack, or a discreet case without giving up a full-size rifle at the range. This is the right-fold version, which means the stock swings toward the ejection port side when your build is pointed downrange. It threads on with a standard 1-3/16 x 16 pattern and works with standard AR-15 bolt carrier groups right out of the box, no extra parts required.
This is Sylvan Arms' fifth-generation design, and the build quality shows. It's CNC-machined in the USA from 4140 steel and comes in at right around 9.4 ounces, so you get serious durability without hanging a boat anchor off the back of your receiver. Sylvan rates it as roughly 250% stronger than their Gen 4 adapter, and it's built to be user-serviceable, so replacement pins, springs, and screws are available if you ever wear one out. The unit sits closer to the lower than older designs, which trims the folded length and closes up the gaps that used to bug people about side folders.
Installation is about as simple as it gets. You remove your existing buffer tube, thread the adapter onto the lower, and reattach your stock or brace setup. Most folks have it done in under five minutes with the included wrench. It plays nice with .223/5.56, .308, and 300 Blackout builds, and most 9mm ARs will run it using the included bolt extension after pulling the pin and weight from the back of a standard-sized 5/8 ID carrier.
Keep in mind this is a right-fold specific unit, so if you'd rather have the stock tuck away on the non-ejection side, grab the left-fold version instead. For anyone building a compact truck gun, a travel setup, or just wanting a rifle that stows small, the SA5 Pro is a clean, tough answer that installs fast and stays put.
