Micro .380s have always been easy to carry and a little snappy to shoot. Smith & Wesson's Performance Center went after that trade-off directly with the Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp. The star of the show is the 3.1 inch ported stainless steel barrel and PowerPort setup, which vents gas upward at the muzzle to knock down flip and felt recoil. The result is a pocket-sized pistol that stays flatter through a string of fire than you'd expect from something this light, and follow-up shots come back on target noticeably quicker than with the standard model.
This particular version is a limited distributor run that pairs a Blue Titanium Cerakote frame with a Performance Center Grey Armornite slide. It's a sharp two-tone combo that stands apart from the sea of black micro pistols without looking gaudy. Underneath the finish you get the same Bodyguard 2.0 ergonomics that won so many people over: a slim, textured grip that fills the hand better than older pocket .380s, a flat-face trigger with a clean break, and aggressive slide serrations with extra grip surface so racking is simple even with sweaty or cold hands.
Up front sits an Ameriglo Protector LumiGreen night sight matched to a blacked-out square notch rear, a proven defensive setup that pulls your eye straight to the front dot in any light. This model also carries a manual thumb safety and a tactile loaded chamber indicator you can check by feel. Two 10-round magazines come in the box, and with the pinky extension installed the grip gives most hands a full three-finger hold.
At roughly 11.8 ounces and well under an inch wide, this is a pistol that disappears in a pocket holster or inside the waistband, then shoots like something a size class bigger. For anyone who passed on a micro .380 because of how they shoot, this one is worth a serious look.
The PowerPort is a port cut into the top of the 3.1 inch barrel and slide near the muzzle. It vents gas upward as you fire, which pushes the muzzle down and cuts felt recoil and muzzle flip. On a pistol this light, the difference is easy to feel, and it makes fast follow-up shots much more manageable.
The Carry Comp version comes out of the Performance Center with a slightly longer slide, the ported barrel and PowerPort, more aggressive slide serrations, and upgraded Ameriglo sights with a LumiGreen front night sight. The grip and overall ergonomics carry over from the original, so it conceals just as easily. This particular run also wears a Blue Titanium Cerakote frame with a Grey Armornite slide.
Yes, this model includes a frame-mounted manual thumb safety along with a tactile loaded chamber indicator you can check by touch. If you'd rather carry without an external safety, S&W builds other versions of the Carry Comp, but this configuration is the one with the thumb safety and two 10-round magazines.
That's really the whole point of this pistol. The .380 Auto is already a softer-shooting round than 9mm, and the PowerPort takes another bite out of muzzle rise on top of that. Combined with the improved grip shape and flat trigger, it's one of the most pleasant micro pistols in its class to run at the range.
