The Shield X is Smith & Wesson's answer to everything the carry community had been asking for from the Shield platform. It keeps the slim, concealable profile the series is known for but adds a longer grip, a redesigned ergonomic frame, and a factory-milled optic cut — all without ballooning the width. The slide measures just 0.9 inches across, actually narrower than the Shield Plus, which is a nice surprise when you're dressing around a gun every day.
That 3.6-inch stainless barrel is finished in S&W's Armornite treatment, which is a nitriding process that hardens the surface and holds up well against the sweat and wear that comes with regular carry.
