There's a reason the Metal series turned so many heads when Smith & Wesson released it. Take the proven M&P M2.0 platform, swap the polymer frame for T6 aluminum, and you get a pistol that flexes less under recoil and tracks noticeably flatter through fast strings. At 30 ounces it still carries and handles like a modern striker gun, but the added rigidity gives it a planted, settled feel that polymer just can't match. The Tungsten Gray Cerakote finish over the frame and slide looks sharp and shrugs off wear, while the 4.25 inch stainless steel barrel wears a black Armornite finish for corrosion resistance.
The trigger deserves a mention on its own. Smith & Wesson gave this gun an enhanced sear paired with the M2.0 flat face trigger, which translates to shorter take-up, a cleaner break, and a crisp reset for quick follow-up shots. The grip is just as adaptable as the polymer M2.0 guns, with four interchangeable palmswell inserts in sizes S through L so you can fine-tune fit and trigger reach. A reversible mag release, aggressive slide serrations, and a Picatinny rail for lights round out the frame. Since it's built on the M&P platform, it runs with existing M2.0 magazines and holsters, and you get two 17-round mags in the box.
This bundle skips the usual optic shopping headache by including Holosun's HS407C X2 along with the mounting hardware and plate to get it on the slide. The crisp 2 MOA dot is quick to pick up without covering your target at distance, and the Super LED delivers up to 50,000 hours of battery life. Shake Awake wakes the dot when you pick the gun up, Solar Failsafe keeps it running if the battery gives out, and the side-loading tray means you never have to remove the optic to swap the CR1632. The optic ships in the box along with the mounting hardware and plate needed for installation. Mounting takes just a few minutes with basic tools, and the optic-cut slide is machined to accept it directly. Plan on zeroing it at the range before you rely on it.
The big change is the frame, which is machined from T6 aluminum instead of polymer. That extra rigidity cuts down on frame flex during firing, so the gun feels flatter and more planted through rapid strings. It also gets an enhanced sear for a cleaner trigger break, and at 30 ounces it carries a bit more weight that further softens felt recoil.
Yes. Since it's built on the M&P platform, the M2.0 Metal is compatible with M2.0 full-size magazines, holsters, and palmswell inserts you may already own. Just keep in mind that with the red dot mounted, you'll want a holster cut for optics.
The HS407C X2 has Holosun's Solar Failsafe, which powers the dot from ambient light if the battery runs down. The Super LED is rated up to 50,000 hours on a single CR1632, and Shake Awake shuts the dot off when idle to stretch battery life even further. When it's time to swap batteries, the side tray lets you do it without removing the optic or losing your zero.
